Animation 1: From Oceans: Origins of Life

[NO NARRATION, VISUAL ONLY]

- The video shows a three dimensional rendering of what a coral reef ecosystem may have looked like during the Cambrian Explosion. Rocks and seaweed make up the underwater landscape.

Zooming in, a hole can be spotted on the ocean floor, and a worm-like sea creature with short spikes and a large mouth opening sticks its head out to feed on nearby debris.

Two long, cylindrical fish with flat fins running along the length of either side of their bodies and a long feeding appendage swim into view, attacking the worm-like animal in its burrow.

One of the two fish starts to swim in the opposite direction, but is caught by a larger sea creature with flat fins running along the length of either side of its body, and two long feeding appendages that wrap around the fish and bring it closer to the large animal’s mouth.

The large sea creature swims away with the smaller fish in its grasp.
