3.4 Partial Fractions

Instructor: Number 44, we'll do this, take the same idea and do long division here. Now, we have x minus 3 divided by x plus 2. So we're going to have-- this is going to be 1, goes in there one time, which will make x plus 2. Subtracting, we get 5. This is minus 5 over x plus 2. So this is the same as the integral of 1 minus 5 over x minus 2 dx. 

And the integral there is x minus 5, natural log of the absolute value of x minus 2 plus C.
